Little Willow – Paul McCartney
BEND, LITTLE WILLOW,
WINDS GONNA BLOW YOU
HARD AND COLD TONIGHT.
LIFE, AS IT HAPPENS,
NOBODY WARNS YOU,
WILLOW, HOLD ON TIGHT.
NOTHING’S GONNA SHAKE YOUR LOVE,
TAKE YOUR LOVE AWAY.
NO ONE’S OUT TO BREAK YOUR HEART,
IT ONLY SEEMS THAT WAY…HEY.
SLEEP, LITTLE WILLOW,
PEACE GONNA FOLLOW,
TIME WILL HEAL YOUR WOUNDS.
GROW TO THE HEAVENS,
NOW AND FOREVER,
ALWAYS CAME TOO SOON………..
Today I gathered some ingredients for some olfactory experimentation from the local apothecary. It’s small and I had to do some substituting. Don’t worry, those who are mirroring my work, I will tell all when I try it later.
Afterwards Boleskine 93 and I went to a local Willow tree and gathered some branches. I have wanted to make a wand. As the branches were high, this will be a rather thin wand, sort of Harry Potterish maybe. I hope not too much so. I also brought home the long trains that fed off the thickest branch I could find without treading into the poison ivy too much. Silly witch that I am, I have never caught it even standing in the midst, but Boleskine 93 does so I hear. I have to be careful, I do NOT want a blistering Boleskine! I am drying the branch for the wand and have made a pentacle and two willow wreaths. I’ll try and get pics up soon.

I have always liked the idea of a willow wand. I have had good experiences with willow. However my feel is that there is a touch of the underworld/the Other world with willows that you don’t have with say beech or oak… Not a bad thing, but perhaps something to be aware of. After all, we all need to balance the dark and the light – THIS is I think what willow does for me – it straddles both worlds. Rather appropriate for a new beginning for you, n’est ce pas?
I still need to ‘find’ another athame. My last one was a bugger so I profaned it. Now I’m athame-less and feel the loss.

oui il est. I am thinking of sending the small one to such a friend. Do you think she would like it?

I think your friend would be overjoyed with anything you gave her – pebble, wand or a kiss blown across the ocean
